Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has been named the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
The former Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum was named on Friday by Atiku after narrowing his search for running mate to a politician from the South East of Nigeria.
Atiku narrowed his search to Peter Obi, a politician, after it was reported that at least three technocrats and two politicians have been penciled down for the position.
The technocrats were former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo; former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Akinwunmi Adesina; and former Managing Director of Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, Chike Obi.
The politicians include current Deputy of the Senate, Ike Ekwumeku Madu, and Mr. Obi.
