To mark the 500 days after the abduction of about 276 school girls from Government Girls College, Chibok in the troubled North East region, the #BringBackOurGirls group has paid a protest visited to the office of the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode.

BBOG-AMBODE3The group in their numbers marked from Allen Avenue area of Ikeja to the governor’s office, demanding the immediate rescue of the kidnapped school girls alive.

In their address, the group demanded from the state governor that “As a Nigerian Governor and a member of the governing party,”  you put “pressure on the relevant government agencies to deliver on their mandates.”

They urged the governor to “mandate the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency to enumerate the IDPs in the three official camps in the state; Kirikiri, Ibeju-Lekki and Magodo and ensure that their immediate needs are met and they have the same rights to education and healthcare that are applicable to Lagos State residents”, among other demands.

Responding, the governor promised to ensure that all the Internally displaced persons in the state are given equal opportunities to live their normal lives.

Among the leaders of the group were Yemisi Ransome-kuti, Niyi Olatunde Onabanjo, Ayo Obey, Aisha Oyebode, Ngozi Iwere, Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Olalere Babasola, Yemi Adamolekun, Habiba Balogun, Amina Oyagbola, with leader of Chibok community in Lagos State, Moses Zakwa, among other notable members.
