Police in Lagos have arraigned a building contractor, Ojelabi Olawale, 50, before an Ebute-metta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly defrauded his client the sum of N7 million.

The contractor was arraigned before the court presided over by Chief Magistrate Oluwayemisi Adelaja (Mrs), on a two-count charge bordering on false representation and conduct likely to breach public peace.

Police in the charge stated that the building contractor, had on November 14, 2015, at about 10a.m, at 6, Showemimo Street, Sabo-Ojo, lagos, collected the sum of N7 million from one Nnabugwu Ezenwafo, under the false pretence that as a professional builder, he is capable of renovating a storey building belonging to the Nzenwafo.

He was also alleged to have conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, by abandoning the building renovation contract awarded to him by Ezenwafo.

The offences according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Daniel Ighodalo, are contrary to and punishable under sections 378 and 166 of the criminal laws of laws of Lagos state, 2011.

But the accused person denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.

Upon his plea, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeleja, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000, 00 with two sureties.

The sureties, according to the presiding Chief Magistrate, are to sworn to an affidavit of means, and show to court evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos state government.

She also ordered that the sureties’ addresses must be verified by the court prosecutor. While adjourned the matter till June 8, for mention.http://thestreetreporters.com/?p=5603
