Healthcare: Governor’s Wife Storm Local Council

The wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Chief Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi has declared that Ugo’s Touch of Life Foundation (U-tolf) would not rest on its oars but would work towards finding solutions to health problems of the people.

She made this known at Itchi-Agu during her official visit to Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area on Friday for free medical outreach, saying that “our medical mission is to help our friends, brothers and sisters.

“We are here to touch lives of people where help is needed because there are a lot of our people that cannot afford healthcare”, she said, noting that “one can help irrespective of one’s position”.

Chief Mrs. Ugwuanyi continued: “wives look after your husbands. If you feel your husbands are not taking care of you, if you look after him, he will care for you.

“Some teachers rape Children (both male and female) kept under their charge. Is your Child safe? No matter our economy and job, our Children need to be treated right.

“A Child is supposed to learn not to earn. Let us give them basic education. Kids should be happy, healthy and safe. Deworm your Children”.

“Let us eat fresh food. Let us forget tinned food. Let us eat right and change our eating habit.

“Eat curry, it helps the brain. Also eat ginger and garlic”, she concluded.

In his good will message, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Dr. Fidelis Odo re-emphasized Government’s commitment to even development and a fair and equitable distribution of its resources to all sections of the community by their appointment of 95 persons made up of Executive Assistants and Special Assistants, noting that their mandate is for 2019 elections.

He applauded the wife of the Governor for engaging his wife, Prof. Uchenna Odo on health talks which according to him has enhanced her research, learning and teaching, noting that the council has Gburugburu girls, one of the support groups for 2019 elections and thanked the Governor for Ibagwa-Aka-Itchi-Unadu-Alor –Agu Road as construction work had commenced in earnest.

Earlier, in her welcome speech, the wife of the Chairman, Igbo-Eze South Local Government, Prof. Mrs. Uchenna Odo has commended the wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi for taking her free healthcare to the rural dwellers, noting that this is the first time a wife of a Governor is coming to Itchi-Agu Community and urged her to continue to sustain such privileges for the benefit of all.

Professor Odo, who poured encomiums on the first lady of the State, also noted with admiration that she trains and makes school uniforms for Children, saying: “As we thank you because Enugu State is working, please thank the Governor”.

In a lecture delivered by Chinelo Ugwueze, she called on the people to prefer grains, cereals, (Ikakporo) and vegetables for potassium and advised that rest is necessary, adding: “don’t eat carbohydrate every time to avoid so much sugar in you” and intimated that if one has blood pressure and did not treat it, it brings stroke, noting that it can further stop a man from functioning as a man.

Those who also spoke include Hon. Dominic Ezema, Hon. Mrs. Uchenna Utazi and Rt. Hon. Matthew Ezochukwu Ugwueze, member, representing Igbo-Eze South State constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology.

Hon. Ugwueze, while welcoming the wife of the Governor in a special way, observed that it is only a humble wife that understands a politician husband, adding: “A life lived without Charity is no life at all”.
