A human rights group, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has warned the Ogun State Traditional Council through Ilaro Traditional Council not to allow the identified criminals, land grabbers, bunkerers and smugglers purportedly installed as illegal monarch in deviance to court process and due process of law and Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration of 1956, into their fold.
The group also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alhaji Ibrahim Idris to arrest and made possible prosecution of any monarch who conspired with the so- called criminal, Mr. Jeseph Adesiyan in undermining the judicial process by poking finger into the eyes of the law, describing Olaniyan’s purported ascendance to the throne of Onihunbo of Ihunbo as impostor, illegal, abomination, aberration, unmonarchical, lawless, illegitimate and unacceptable to the good people of Ihunbo in Ipokia Local government area of the State.
It alleged that Mr. Joseph conspired with other notorious gang, including; Titus Babajide (aka Oppressor), Fatai Isiaka and 26 others with the supervision of 21 soldiers from 192 Battalion, Owode-Yewa, Ogun State to launch a fatal attack on the harmless people of Ihunbo on the eve of Friday March 17th, 2017 where they set ablaze (arson) the ancient Onihunbo’s palace as a way to create fear in the mind of the innocent people of the town, for insisting that the next ruling house, Agbotejoye ruling house, in accordance with the Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration of 1957, should fill the vacant stool, after the demise of Oba J.A.S. Fase, from ruling house.
The group made this known through a Petition letter dated Monday 8th May, 2017 and signed by the CHRSJ’s Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Sulaiman and forwarded to the Inspector General of Police and copies were made available to newsmen on Tuesday, reporting the atrocities and illegality being perpetrated by the Ogun State Traditional Council, through Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle which might lead to the breaking down of law and order in the area in an attempt to give undue recognition to Mr. Joseph Olamide Adesiyan as Onihunbo of Ihunbo in deviant to court process which was contrary to the law of the federation.
The Petition Letter read thus: “Having failed woefully by the aforementioned suspected notorious criminals to claim the lives of two innocent citizens of the ancient town on the fateful day Friday March 17th, 2017, when they unleashed deadly attack on the town during which the ancient palace were burnt (arson) as a way to keep their mouth shut throughout the period of their evil act in the town. But this event ginger the people of the community to agitate for the their traditional right to install a monarch of the town from the next Agbotejoye ruling house as stipulated in the 1956 Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration.
“Even, up till today, both old and young in the town are continuously resisted the onslaught/corrosive insult and assault orchestrated by the illegal Mr. Joseph Adesiyan and his terror gang led by Babajide Titus and Isiaka Fatai on the people of the community which they may never determine the final consummation of the matter through the law and any other legal means available to the authentic citizens of the ancient town of Ihunbo.
“The people of the town and appropriate authority have warned Mr. Joseph Adesiyan to desist from parading himself as monarch of the town pending the determination of the Suit No: HCL/31/2016 before Justice S.M. Owodunni of the High Court of Justice, Ipokia Judicial division in order to avoid being damaged the good public image of Ihunbo citizens at home and abroad”.
It further stressed Mr. Adesiyan wanted to come to the throne through fraudulent means by claiming what did not belong to him and his family and this was tantamount to the abuse of tradition and court process, adding that anything build on falsehood would never stand the test of
It added that, “The kabiyesi in the Ogun State Traditional Council should serve as paternal to all and sundry and they should not be supporting illegality.
“There is no two ways to it, when you do not have legitimate right to occupy a position of tradition as stipulated in the Chieftaincy declaration; you need to wait for the turn of your family and anything aside this, such a person is an impostor and usurper and as well a recipe to calamity.
“It is a shame that we need to raise an alarm before a responsible and responsive leader of government of Ogun State could deem it fit to make an inquiry on the illegality perpetrated by some officials of the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in connivance with the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government area of the
State”, he said.
