Nnamdi Kanu: Enugu Residents, Church Members Join IPOB Protest

IPOB_Protest_ENUGUChurch members in Enugu, Enugu State, on Sunday joined hundreds of Pro-Biafra activists in storming the streets of the state, protesting the detention of the Director of Radio Biafra and leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was recently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on arrival to Nigeria last October.

The protesters, who were marching through major streets in Enugu metropolis, as at the time of filling this report, were also demanding urgent recognition of the Sovereign State of Biafra.

Chanting anti-Federal government slogans, they declared their opposition to the incarceration of the IPOB leader.

They said that they would not relent in their agitation for the actualization of Biafra.

They were, however, peaceful as motorists were allowed to ply without any confrontation.

Some residents who were going to different churches within New Haven area of Enugu for Sunday worship joined the crowd in the protest march holding their Bibles and chanting “Anyi amakwe” meaning “We will not agree”.

At press time, the protesters were still on the street, moving towards Okpara Avenue, Enugu while some policemen were seen driving behind them.
