The Nigeria Police, Rivers State Police Command, has arraigned ten suspected Pro-Biafra protesters arrested between January 16-18, 2016.
The suspects were on Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate Courts 7 and 14 in Port Harcourt, the state capital on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and treasonable felony.
Hearing on the cases has been adjourned till January 21 and 28 respectively.
The charge read: “The suspects are Onu Ifeanyi ‘M’, Prinace Onwazor ‘M’, Princewill Anyanywu ‘M’, Sunday Egbim ‘M’. Uzoma Onyegbu ‘M’, Chigozie Moses ‘M’, Chukwudi Enyidau ‘M’, Anthony Ochuel ‘M’ Enam David okon ‘M’ and Friady Nwahiri ‘M’.”
The presiding magistrates ordered the suspects to be remanded in prison custody.
It would be recalled that the suspects were arrested while on their way to infiltrate Port Harcourt from neighbouring states with the intent to engage in a conduct likely to undermine public peace.
The Command has further  re-emphasize that it “will not stand idly and allow any person or group of persons to violate the laws of country by engaging in conducts that are perilous to public peace and order as well as the lives and properties of other law abiding citizens”, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP. Ahmad K. Muhammad said in a statement.
