The Department of State Security (DSS) operatives that had laid siege at the residence of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), have been withdrawn,  reports say.

However, uncertainty over the fate of Dasuki still permeated the air as the President Muhammadu Buhari administration may have opted to prosecute the former NSA, TheStreetReporters.com has learnt.

It was also gathered that Dasuki is unhappy that he could not perform his religious obligation of attending the Eid Prayers, marking the end of Ramadan fast.

On his part, the former NSA, TheStreetReporters.com gathered is considering legal action against the DSS in order to enforce his fundamental human rights.

But Dasuki may be charged to court for alleged corruption, security sources said Friday night in Abuja.

He had been under house arrest since Thursday when operatives of the Department of State Services besieged his Abuja residence and impounded about nine vehicles, which were said to have been taken away from his house.

The DSS operatives, may have seized his international traveling documents as information were being collated for his possible prosecution.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the $15 million arms money seized by South Africa has been returned after legal and diplomatic processes initiated by the former National Security Adviser.

The South African government had, last year, seized the cash meant for the purchase of arms to prosecute the ongoing war against the Boko Haram insurgents.

TheStreetReporters recalled that then President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was forced to resort to the alternative market to obtain arms when western powers blocked every access to the formal international arms market on the guise that Nigerian military might misuse the arms.

This newspaper had reported how the embattled former NSA had arrested then military ruler, Muhammadu Buhari on the orders of General Ibrahim Babangida’s military junta after the latter had toppled Buhari’s regime on the eve of Sallah in 1985.

If it was mere coincidence that Buhari government placed the former ADC to Babangida under house arrest last Thursday being the eve of Sallah in 2015 is uncertain.
