The Chinese Super League has taken the football world by storm over the last two recent transfer windows, as the Far East have lured world-class stars with extravagant deals to make the journey to China.
Players like former Chelsea star Oscar, former PSG winger Ezequiel Lavezzi and former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez have all been tempted by offers to move to China – as they receive a tantalising weekly wage.
However, since Tevez made the switch from Boca Juniors to Shanghai Shenhua, the Argentine is set to take home a whopping £634,000-a-week salary. While this amount is already mind-boggling, a leak from Football Leaks: The Dirty Business of Football has revealed the extent of bonuses the 33-year-old could receive during his time in the Chinese Super League.
As reported in The Mirror, If Tevez is to achieve all goals set by Shanghai Shenhua, he will accrue a total bonus amount of £3.916m already on top of his annual base salary of £17.16m.
Although, Tevez must perform on an individual level and Shanghai Shenhua must achieve silverware if the striker is to receive any of these bonuses.
Mapped out, Tevez will receive £788,000 if he starts 70 percent of Shanghai Shenhua’s matches and £390,000 if he is the club’s leading goalscorer. On a club level Tevez could earn £390,000 if Shanghai Shenhua win the domestic cup, £788,000 if they win the league and a staggering £1.56m if the side wins the Asian Champions League.
With all this in mind, achieving these feats are still no easy task, although it does give the Argentinian plenty of incentive to make sure that he is on form every time he puts on the Shenhua shirt.
