Many residents have been reported injured and others killed in a Jigawa State Community, in Northern Nigeria after suspected insurgents invaded the area in an attack which took place Wednesday night.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Audu Jinjiri, confirmed the attack but didn’t give casualty details. He, however, explained that the State Police Command is yet to ascertain the number of casualties as at this morning.
Also speaking on the development, the Councillor of Abiya ward, Mr Safiyanu Abdu, who spoke with newsmen said one person was killed while several others were wounded and had been taken to the Rasheed Shakoni Teaching Hospital, in the state capital, Dutse.
According to the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP Bala Zama the people are armed robbers.
He explained that Command has already mobilised the officials of Special Anti Robbery Squad to be deployed to the area.
