At the weekend, the Director of Basic and Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Lami Amodu, received an award as Woman of the Year.
It was conferred on her by the Joint Action Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (JACCSON).
She also received a gold metal as an ambassador of the Civil Society coalition of over 11 organizations.
During the presentation of the highly coveted annual award to the recipient on Friday in Abuja, the National Coordinator of JACCSON, Comrade Isaac Ikpa, described the recipient as a wise woman who has used her knowledge to improve on the welfare of less privileged Nigerians, adding that she has distinguished herself in her chosen career as a woman in a country where the girl child education is still a challenge.
While making her acceptance remarks, Dr. Lami Amodu noted that the award would spur her to rededicate herself to a better campaign for the girl-child education and welfare.
In their goodwill messages, the staff of the department took turn to pour ecomimuims on Dr. Amodu, describing her as a workaholic who hardly have time to eat or rest in her bid to excel in her career.
